Bishop Wesley William Davis Sr., a good and faithful servant of the Lord, was born on January 12th, 1945 in Laurel, Mississippi and passed away on January 8th, 2024, in Erie PA.
Wesley, affectionately known by his family as “Gad”, was formerly employed by Hammermill Paper, General Electric, Otis/Seelar Elevator Company and happily retired from SCI Albion. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and an avid Steelers fan. The title he cherished the most was Bishop, as he answered the call to pastor his church, God’s Grace Apostolic Church, which he founded in 1996 and never deviated from the word of God. He was a former member of Bethlehem Temple Church and Greater Bethlehem Church under the tutelage of Bishop Tony TR Ratcliff Sr. Bishop Wes had a heart so big that it held infinite love not only for the family that continues his legacy, but also for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Gospel which he never missed an opportunity to share. His mission in life was to serve the Lord, spread the Gospel and save as many souls as he could. Not only did Bishop Wes preach the word of God but lived his life in a manner that made his calling and election sure.
He is preceded in death by his father John Davis, and parents Lavon and Lillian Gore Hinton, brothers John, Lavon Jr., Grady Davis and Anthony Hinton, sisters Willie Gore and Mary Helen Morris, sons Wesley Jr., Lesley Sr., daughters Ronda Beason and Janeen Robinson, granddaughter Desire Davis and a great grandson Marshawn Toren.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his sweetheart and love of his life, his wife of almost 59 years Betty Jean Cooley Davis, sons Douglas Sr. (Yolanda), Richard Sr. (Ruhiyyih), Glenn, Michael (Natalie), Robert, Wesley III, and Daniel Carson. Daughters Shannon Wallace (Ricky), Kimberly Davis, Tammy Sanders, Brenda Davis, Tashuna Davis, Latoya Davis, Lateesha Davis, Lakeisha Richmond (Jesse), and Anika Davis. Sisters Desiree Bean (Mack) and Debra Hinton. His memory will also live on and continue to be honored and cherished by a host of grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Greater Bethlehem Temple Church 4103 Washington Ave Erie, PA from 10am until the time of the Homegoing Celebration beginning at 12pm. Burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
