Valentine Wieszczyk, Jr.

Valentine Wieszczyk, Jr. age 93, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at home in Millcreek. He was born in Erie on July 4, 1932, to the late Valentine Wieszczyk, Sr., and Coletta Kowalski.

Valentine attended St. Casimir Grade School and Tech Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked with sheet metal and welding for several Erie businesses and retired from Steris Corp. He was an active member of St. Julia Church. Besides playing cards, Valentine enjoyed many outdoor activities such as cabin camping, boating and gardening. However, his favorite outdoor pastime was fishing with his grandchildren. He liked helping out and fixing things at St. Julia Church and working on vintage automobile restoration projects with his son-in-law.

In addition to his parents, Valentine was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan (Garbacz) Wieszczyk, an infant sister Antoinette, sisters Rose Wieszczyk, Pearl Mientkiewicz, and Frances Cieslinski, as well as brothers Daniel Wieszczyk, and Raymond Wieszczyk, Sr. Valentine is survived by his children Rose Ann Gutting (John), Russell Wieszczyk (Deanne), Reine Wieszczyk, and Rachael Kibbe (Mark), eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Valentine’s family would like to thank the team of professionals at Heartland Hospice and Interim Healthcare Hospice for all their support and help throughout the past year. We would also like to thank our evening “angel,” Vicki, who gave us great direction and advice. In lieu of flowers, please have Masses offered for his soul. You can contact St. Julia Parish or your local Catholic church to have a Mass said in his name.  

Relatives and friends are invited to Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Monday, February 23, 2026, at 9:15 AM for Prayer Service. Funeral Mass will follow at St. Julia Parish, 3750 West Lake Road, Erie, Pennsylvania 16505, at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
