It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommy Lee Woodard (age 63). Tommy fought a lengthy battle with cancer and passed away at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, October 26, 2024.
Tommy was born in Erie, PA on November 9, 1960. He was the son of the late Rev. Elijah King Soloman Woodard and Velma (Walker)Woodard. He graduated from East High School in 1979. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served our country for 26 years retiring as Master Sargent in 2006. During his tour of duty, he was awarded many medals, badges, and ribbons for his service and bravery. Notably, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Service Defense Medal with one bronze star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Korean Defense Service Medal just to name a few.
Tommy had many interests and hobbies. He was passionate about music, enjoyed autumns in Pennsylvania, fishing with his family, classic cars, car shows, estate sales, football (an avid Penn State and Steelers fan), class reunions, exercising and lifting weights at the gym. He loved helping others and was eager to help anyone in any way he could. Tommy was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Elijah King Soloman Woodard and Velma Woodard; a brother, Elijah King Soloman Woodard; and two sisters Delie Woodard and Annie Woodard.
