Thomas R. Konkol, age 80 of Erie, PA passed away peacefully at his home to eternal life on Monday December 27, 2021. Tom lived his life as a proud East Side resident. He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and worked at Hammermill Paper Company retiring after 35 years.
Tom was a life long member of St. Stanislaus Church, where he was an avid volunteer working with his close friend, Debbie Oldenski, and his extended parish family. When not busy helping at St Stans you could find Tom involved in area sports. He was an accomplished fast pitch softball player spending many summer days on his home field of 13th and Wayne. Tom also loved playing and coaching basketball helping both boys and girls teams over numerous seasons. Tom was always willing to give a hand. He spent many years helping his close friend, Joe Wieczorek, at Bridal Flower. He loved trips to New York City, taking in Broadway shows and seeing all the sights. Tom also enjoyed gardening and many of us looked forward to fresh tomatos from his garden in the summer time.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Mary Konkol as well as his five brothers Raymond, Louis, Joseph, Edward, and Jack Konkol. He is also preceded in death by sister-in-law’s Helen (Raymond), Loretta(Edward) and Florence (Joseph). He is survived by sister-in-law’s Helen (Louis), Sadie (Edward), and Fran (Jack). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday Jan 4th, 9:30am at St Stanislaus Church with visitation at church 9am prior to Mass.
