In Loving Memory of Terry (Taz) Summerville

Terry Summerville, 69, of Erie, Pennsylvania, transitioned on September 17, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1956, in Aliceville, Alabama, to the late Emily Star Summerville, and was lovingly raised by the late Eddie and Ethel Bonner.

After relocating from Aliceville to Erie at an early age, Terry graduated from Academy High School in 1976. Following graduation, he worked at several companies, including Hammermill Paper Company, Presque Isle Beach Erosion Control, and Lincoln Foundry Company.

Known to many as “Taz,” he enjoyed playing softball, socializing with friends, feeding the birds, and cheering for his favorite team, the Las Vegas (formerly Oakland) Raiders!!

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Star Summerville; Eddie and Ethel Bonner; his wife, Eddie Lynn Johnson Summerville; those who were raised as siblings, Janie Mae Mathis, George L. Bonner, Eddie K. Easter, and Annette Thompson; his brother-in-law, Cliff Lyles; and his stepson, Cantrell Tate.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Amanda DeBoe; stepchildren, Sophia Williams, Alphonzo Tate, Clifton Johnson, and Maurice DeBoe; sisters, Gloria Summerville Lyles and Carol Summerville; brother, Robert Somerville (Tameka); raised as a brother, IDaniel Sommerville; grandchildren, Wakeem, Amina, and Aa’Driean Page; and caretaker, Regina DeBoe.

Terry was also a beloved uncle to a host of nieces and nephews, a cousin to many, and a friend to all.
