Tamaj Shaw Obituary

Tamaj Makhi Shaw, born on February 19, 2010, to Cassaundra Shaw in Erie, Pa, passed away on January 18, 2025. He was 14. Tamaj was the oldest of his mother’s four children and was one of the most kind individuals you would ever meet, his smile was so contagious. He was an all-around good kid, soft in nature, caring in spirit, a joy to be around and a true blessing to have known.  He graduated 8th grade from Wilson Middle School, where he was on the Student Committee for decision making that would benefit himself and his peers. Tamaj took interest in wearing and creating fashion apparel, as well as the creative arts, such as music, drawing and writing.  He enjoyed spending time and connecting with his family and friends; and was an avid lover of sports. Beginning his first year at Mercyhurst Preparatory School he ran cross country; and played basketball for the freshmen team. He truly enjoyed the game of basketball, even had dreams of being in the NBA. He also played youth football for many years, which made his younger brothers want to follow in his footsteps. When he took up basketball, they did the same.  His little sister looked up to him in both her basketball endeavors and in life, she doted upon him dearly. Tamaj was adored especially by his family tremendously by his friends, and those who will forever hold him in their hearts. His life, love, and memories will forever be cherished by his mother, Cassaundra Shaw of Erie, Pa; Maternal Grandmother Sharann Tate and Grandfather Ronnie Shaw and Great-Grandmother Margaree Shaw all of Erie, Pa; his brothers, Tommy Clanton Jr., Trophee Clanton both of Erie, Pa and Ike Jones of Farrell, Pa; his sisters Isyss Clanton of Erie, Pa and Ladawna (Pat) Jones-Rowell of Georgia; uncles, Parris Mickel, Justin Shaw, and Casey Shaw all of Erie, Pa; his aunts, Shaina Mathis,        Savanna Mathis, Diamond Knight and special aunts Jasmine Barnett and Shaynna Mickel all of Erie, Pa; and a host of great aunts and uncles, nephews, cousins and friends. Tamaj will be immensely missed and certainly never forgotten. Especially by his mother, whom he meant the world to.
