Shirley Miaczynski Obituary

On December 19, 2021 Shirley Jean Miaczynski passed away peacefully at the age of 93 surrounded by her loving family.  Shirley was born in Erie, PA on October 6, 1928 the daughter of Louis and Nellie Saur.  She is preceded in death by her brother David Saur, her son-in-law Paul Goetschius, and her nephew Steven Saur.  
She attended Penn School and graduated from East High School.  She married Joseph Miaczynski on August 27, 1949 at St. Stanislaus Church in Erie, PA and just recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.  
Shirley was an avid gardener, lilacs and gardenias being her favorites.  She was active in arts, crocheting, knitting, and painting ceramics.  Shirley was a devout Catholic attending St. Luke's for many years.  Mom was a traditional mother raising her six children.  As the family grew and expanded, the grandchildren wore her down over the years where she became the center of the fun-filled chaos of birthdays, holidays, and family celebrations.  She incorporated her grandchildren into all parts of her life, supporting them in their academics and sports.  She was proud of her family until the very end.
Shirley is survived by: 
Her son Michael Miaczynski, his daughter Stacey Kloszewski, her children Jacob Kloszewski and wife Jacquelyn and their children Oliver and Aiden; and sons Aaron, Jeremy, Brandon, and Jerret Kloszewski; his second daughter Jodie Schwabenbauer, husband Jason Schwabenbauer, their children Cerria and Randy, and his third daughter Kristi Kenyon and her husband Jeremy Kenyon and their daughter Gabrielle Simons.
Her daughter Linda Johnson and husband Terry Johnson, their children Bethany Potyonek, husband Matthew Potyonek and their children Evan and Morgan, and their son Thomas Johnson and wife Amanda Johnson and their children Ryan and Leeann.
Her son Daniel Miaczysnki and wife Dr. Paula Miaczysnski, and their children Daniel Miaczynski and wife Mandy, their children DJ, Hunter, and Carter, his daughter Kathy and husband Ronald Navarette and their children Leah, Ronnie, and Vanessa, and their daughter Dr. Amanda Morris and her husband Dr. Michael Morris, and their children Mitchell and Abigail.
Her daughter Judy Goetschius and husband Paul Goetschius who passed in 2019, and their children Amber and husband Anthony D'Auria, Adam, Abby and fiancee Brad Reichert, and Alex and fiancee Sarah Koziel and Adam's children Mackenzie Barr and Axton Masi.
Her son Jeff Miaczysnki and wife Ann Miaczysnki and their children Brett (Rachel Betts) and Greg Miaczynski.
Her daughter Patty Lassman and husband Joseph Lassman, and their two children Joey and Jesse Lassman.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101; Shriners Childrens' Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505, and St. Luke's Church, 421 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Parkside Northeast for their invaluable care of Mom and support of the family.  The family would like to extend thanks to the VNA for their assistance and care throughout Mom's last days.  A special thank you to Bob for his kind words and for watching over Mom to the very end.
Family and Friends will be received Sunday, December 26, 2021, from 3 PM until 6 PM at Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 E. 12th Street Erie PA 16503.  Additional visitation will take place Monday, December 27, 2021,at St. Luke’s Church,  421 E. 38th Street Erie PA 16504, from 9:30 AM until a Funeral Mass at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of Peace.
