Samuel Wright

On January 18th of 2025, Sam passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his Godmother and Aunt, Charlotte Daniels, his Aunt Elizabeth Wilson, his mother Shirley Olson and her husband Charles Olson, his father Anthony Wright and his wife Sheri Wright, His sister Debra Aaron, and his grandson, baby Leon.

He is survived by his ex-wife, significant other, and caregiver, JoAnn Wright, his three daughters Brittanie Wright (Travis), Veronica Wright (Jacob), and Jessica Sanner (Thomas), his grandchildren Henry, Valencya, Peyton, Cecelia, and two additional grandchildren due this year. He is also survived by his sisters Nanci Wright and Ann Rodgers, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  

Sam was an ironworker, restored buildings, and worked at Lake Erie Systems as a strategist in shipping and receiving. He was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed nature, fishing, boating, camping, hunting, and having a cold one after days’ work Lol. Sam loved to watch westerns and was a die-hard channel flipper.

Sam’s humor shined brightly through stories he shared about his past experiences. When times were tough, he had a way of lightening the mood with humor to make people feel better.

He loved his family, and was proud to be a husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren filled him with joy. He was very proud and protective of them.

Samuel had a strong will to live. He excelled while defying the odds against him. He fought a long hard fight; he amazed all of us. He made a lasting impression on most people one way or another. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 24, 2025 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 East 21st St., Erie, Pa 16503 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, Pa 16503.
