Rodney truly defined a good man, an honest, hardworking man, loving father, son and outstanding grandfather. He loved to be in the company of others, known widely as the life of the party, he enjoyed good southern food, traveling and most of all his family! Rodeny Alfonzo Ford age 62, of Erie, PA left us on April 30th 2024 fighting his final fight of cancer.
Rodney was born December 16, 1961 in Memphis Tennessee, to Robert James Ford, and Ernestine Sarafinya Barber. He spent a fair share of his childhood between Memphis TN, Meadville PA, and Battlecreek MI where he graduated Central Highschool. After graduation Rodney spent a short time in the United States Airforce where he was honorably discharged, he then went on to study Mortuary Science at Wayne State University. In the midst of his journey he met his first love, Lisa Boyd who made Rodney a Father April 12th 1987, and then married July 25 1987. Rodney’s continued to be a loving husband and dedicated father while working at PPG, until retirement. Living a simple life, putting God first, making memories, traveling and being the best father and grandfather was all Rodney set out to do and he succeeded all these things by a longshot.
Rodney was survived by his Parents, children, grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews, loved ones and close friends. He proceeded in death by his brother Rickey Ford.
Siblings- Rodney had an individual bond with each of his siblings, Patricia Ford, late Rickey Ford, Reginald Ford, Kimberly Kimit, Rashall Ford, Carmen Doke, Robbin Doke, Brad Brown and youngest brother Marcus Jenkins.
Children- Rodney and Lisa shared two children Torrence L, Ford and Tilea L, Ford whom he loved so deeply “MY WORLD” is how he referred to them. Not to mention his daughter-in-law Raquel Ford who assisted in his nurture and care until the end.
Grandchildren -Though he loved fried chicken, dancing and eating butter pecan ice-cream, he enjoyed being a grandfather more; to Khazier, Torrence, Takir, Nasir, Na’ilah, Nahaad, Tionna and his newest edition Noa.
Friends- Rodney had very many close relatives, friends, loved ones who he shared many memories and conversations with, those he wished to acknowledge, Deborah Anne, Late Sharrod Hill, The Boyd Family, The Noble’s The Hayes, The Paige’s and Mcclure’s.
Rodney will always be remembered for his laughter, his love for food and how often he danced. Rodney brought a warm inviting presence to every room he walked in and made everyone feel special. He always emphasized how important it was to know your family and where you came from. Rodney danced his way through life, celebrating every chance he could, and we couldn’t have asked for a better father, grandfather, brother and friend. Your memory will live in our hearts forever.
