Robert Iannotti, 90, of Erie, passed away on July 2, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Providence, RI on January 14, 1933, son of the late Carmine Iannotti and Michelina Catallozzi. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by wife, Mildred (Varich) Iannotti, his son, Paul Iannotti and his sister, Phyllis Iannotti.
Robert served as a Private E-2 in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifelong, world-renowned horse jockey. He was the first American jockey to race and win the 'Sansi Stake Race" in Japan in the 1950s. Robert celebrated his final win in 1979 at the Commodore Downs in Fairview, Pa.
Survivors include, three sons, Michael Robert Iannotti of Erie, Pa, Gerry Iannotti and his wife April of Dallas, Tx, Eugene Allen Hartstein and his wife Dawn of Erie, Pa and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
