Pennie Murl Dade, aged 76, passed away on June 22, 2024, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Born on August 31, 1947, in Laurel, Mississippi, Pennie was a beacon of love and service throughout her life.
After graduating from Bay Springs High School, Pennie pursued higher education at Gannon University. She dedicated over 12 years of her life to St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, where she worked as a nurse's aide, providing care and compassion to those in need. Pennie also served as a foster parent for over 15 years, touching the lives of many children with her warmth and generosity.
A devout member of Morning Star Baptist Church, Pennie was actively involved in various church activities. She served on the missionary board, taught Sunday school, drove the church van, sang in the choir, worked summer lunches and contributed to the kitchen committee. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life.
Pennie's zest for life was unmatched. She enjoyed singing, dancing, traveling, and cooking. A frequent shopper at Sally's with her daughter Faye, she also managed the Gospelettes, sharing her musical talents with many. Pennie was a mother and grandmother to all, always available as a friend and someone to rely on in times of need.
She leaves behind her loving children, Faye Dade, James Dixon, Filmore Grass (Rhoda), Jaquela Dade, Deausha Dade, and Jarell Dade; and her brothers, Timothy Dade and James Dade (Viola). Her niece Kisha Bolden and honorary daughter Willette Ware (Eric Ware). Pennie was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Anna Mae Dade; brothers, Eddie Roy and Horace Dade; sister, Jannie Thomas, Ruby Pugh; and son, Fermondo Arrington.
Pennie also leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. in Erie, Pennsylvania, is assisting the family during this time. Pennie's life and legacy will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact she had on everyone she met. Her kindness, spirit, and devotion will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
