Obsy Johnson, lovingly known as Osby, Opie, Tob or Toby by his family and friends, passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on July 6, 1945, in Vardaman, Mississippi, to his parents the late Tommy Lee Johnson and the late Myrtice Watson- McKinney, George and Beary Watson his grandparents whom raised him and later resided in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Obsy had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, shoot pool, strumming his guitar, playing baseball, playing the lottery, watching animal planet, western movies, dressing nice and driving nice cars. He had a particular fondness for southern cuisine, relishing in a good homemade meal. Obsy had a great appreciation for music, with B.B. King and Al Green being among his favorite artists and blues in general.

In his professional life, Obsy worked in construction, leaving behind a lasting impact through his career achievements and also working on his truck. However, his greatest love was his family. He was married to the late Devonne Johnson, who gained her wings May 2,2024. Obsy was a proud parent and grandparent, cherishing his children: Sean Lyons, Steve Jones, Rashada Johnson, Michael Johnson, the late Cynthia D. Johnson, Tonya Festa, Tia Johnson, Kobie Hervey, and Domino Johnson and step children, Jerome Williams and Angela Burton.

Obsy loved nothing more than his friends and family, he loved the camaraderie of “hanging with the guys.”He will be deeply missed by his surviving close family members, including his siblings, James Harley, Lee McKinney, Billy Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Charles Johnson, Pegg y McKinney, Gracie Allen, and Gwendolyn Thompson. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his brothers , Ira Earl Johnson, Robert Johnson, R.J. Johnson, his sisters, Patricia McKinney, Doris Mcknuckle and his daughter,Cynthia D. Johnson with whom, he was very close with, his grandchildren, Demarion Jeeter and Dayawna Guelledge and great grandchildren Sahni Thompson and Jeremiah Thompson.

Obsy Johnson will be remembered for his love for his family, his dedication to his profession, and his zest for life. May he rest in peace, forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
