Mary Jane Katherine Brocious, age 81, of Erie, PA, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Erie on September 13,1943, daughter of the late Adolph and Irene (Pryzgodzinski) Kosobucki.
Mary graduated from East High School in 1961 where she participated in both basketball and the bowling league. After high school, she married her true-love Robert on May 31, 1964. Prior to starting a family, Mary was employed at General Electric as a Draftsperson. She later enrolled in cake decorating classes and spent many years working as a creative and professional cake decorator. Through the years, the most important job to her was taking great care of her family. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and an active member of the St. Stan’s Women’s Society.
Mary enjoyed gardening, crafting, and cooking for those she loved. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Noni”, which became her favorite nickname and used by all of those who loved her. Mary was very proud of her Polish heritage and always loved a good Polka. Her genuine kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Brocious; her children Robert (Tiffany) Brocious of Winchester, VA, Christopher (Jeanette) Brocious, and Amy (Deb) Brocious of Erie, PA; grandchildren Timothy Brocious, Emily (Devon) Graves, and Katherine Brocious, Erie, PA, Lauren (Jeremy) Oberholtzer of Midlothian, VA and Kaitlyn Brocious of Winchester, VA; great-grandson Davis Oberholtzer. Mary is also survived by her sister, Elaine (Jay) Dardes of Erie, PA, brother-in-law Bill (late Natalie) Brocious of McKean, PA, and sisters-in-law Sandi (Dan) Creech and Pam (late Richard) Allen of Umatilla, FL., and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Friday, January 31st from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 516 E. 13th St. Erie, PA, and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass held on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 am.
