Martha I. (Long) Robinson

Martha I. Robinson, 94, of Erie, Pa, transitioned on September 26, 2024, at Elmwood Gardens. She was born in Bloomington, IL on March 16, 1930, daughter of the late Noble Thomas and Mamie Battles.

Martha was raised in Erie and attended East High School, she ended up moving to Cleveland, Oh to pursue her career. In her elder years, as her health began to fail, she returned back to Erie. Martha worked as a custodian for most of her life and retired from Shaffer's Distribution Co. She was a Charter Member of Calvary Church under the direction of Pastors Dr. Toby Gillespie and Dr. Pastor Rick Gillespie. After returning to Erie, she attended Second Baptist Church and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Durfey Wells. Martha enjoyed sewing, decorating, reading and cooking.

Martha leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Donna Long of Erie, Pa and Deborah Barnes of University Heights, Oh, eight grandchildren, Christopher of Cleveland, Kimberly of Cleveland, Candra of Maryland, Charon (Mark) of Maryland, Jason of Cleveland, Kelsey (Karl) of Atlanta, Julian of Cleveland and Jozlynn of Cleveland, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Tony (Helen) of Las Vegas and a special niece, Jacqueline Love of Erie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, her daughter Denise Nevins, her son, Daniel Butler (Vanessa) and her sister, Sylvia Thurston.

Relatives and friends are invited to Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, Pa 16503 on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 12:00 noon until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 pm with Elder Donna Thomas officiating.
