Lisa Mills Obituary

Lisa Ann Mills, age 58, transitioned from this life and gained her wings on Wednesday April 15,2026 at Saint Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family after her courageous battle with cancer. Lisa was born on March 14, 1968, in Erie Pa. The proud daughter of Edward Lee “Mr. Fish” Thomas Sr. and the late Macie L. Mills-Hill.

Lisa graduated with honorable mention from Academy High School class of 1987. She was active in high school; she was a cheerleader and each year she performed in the Academy on Parade talent show with her girl group called the “Pennsylvania Play Girls”. She was employed for over 26 years at the Erie County Prison and worked as a Correction Officer. She loved her job and her work family. Lisa was previously employed at Hammermill Paper Company and Erie Insurance Company. Lisa had numerous hobbies that allowed her to live her life to the fullest. She loved playing bingo, casino, traveling, shopping, fine dining, listening to music, singing, fast dancing, spending time with family and close friends. Lisa had a passion for fashion, always dressed to impress and everything was color coordinated. She loved her bling!! Lisa loved her family and everyone who she came into contact with. She had a heart of pure gold and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Lisa never met a stranger. “Everyone loves Big Mamma” as she would often say in the workplace with a smile. Lisa had a beautiful spirit that touched the lives of so many while on this earth and she was loved unconditionally. Lisa will never be forgotten. Heaven has gained an angel. Lisa had a strong faith in God, and she held on to his hands throughout her battle. She was tough and she never gave up hope! Lisa did not fight this battle alone!! Her prayer warriors were right by her side every step of the way! She was a member of the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Daryl Craig.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jesse B. and Gladys D. Holston-Mills. Paternal grandparent Mabel Hobson. Brother Maruice McKinnis, God Sister Gussie Williams. Aunt, Jessie Mae “Vickie” Mills, Uncle, Jesse L. Mills, Cousins, Andrea “Sug” Mills-McCullum, Tamika McClelland, Mary Elias, and Jon George Dupree Tate.

Lisa leaves to cherish her memory father Edward Lee “Mr. Fish” Thomas Sr. and his loving lifetime partner Phyllis Jordan. Loving Aunt Denise Gregory, who raised her. Longtime, loving partner of over 30 years Larry Simmons. Siblings: Michael Mills, Michelle Morgan of SC, Damika Roberts, Lolita Roberts, Eddie Lee Thomas Jr., Sade Jordan. Siblings of the heart, Cousins: Tunisia “Bunny” Atkinson GA., Monteko Gregory, her loving “Custer” Sanya Blanks, Shayla Gregory. Step Siblings: Danielle Jordan, Keia Jordan, Rachica Jordan, Rashelle Jordan. Lisa is further survived by a Special Aunt, Ruthie Mae Brothers, Gloria Mills, OH. Gladys Tate, Dorothy (Rufus) Bush, Ruby Mills, Linda Burton, Great Aunt, Florence Bishop. Uncles, James Hopson VA. Winston Mills, Thurston (Jackie) Mills all of Erie. A special thank you to cousins Dionna “DeeDee” Barnett and Rosalind “Rocka” Porter TX. for ensuring that Lisa had the proper medical care, and Nykesha Tate. A special lifelong childhood friend Tiffany Henderson along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and circle of friends.

 Relatives and friends are invited to the House of Prayer Erie, 155 East 21st Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16503 on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to the time of service at 12:00 PM with Pastor Daryl Craig and Pastor Kevin Stevenson officiating.
