Larry O. Butler

Larry O. Butler, age 84, of Waterford, PA, formerly of Roaring Spring, PA, died February 6, 2023, at his daughter’s home. He was the son of the late Raymond F. and Anne (Hufford) Butler. He married the late Peggy J. (Dilling) Butler on November 15, 1958, at Christ United Church of Christ, Roaring Spring, PA. He is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Butler Wright (Robert), of Waterford, PA, and RaeAnn E. Butler (Stacey Collins) of Frederick, MD.; two grandchildren, Zane L. Wright (Jenna) of Erie, and Andy N. Wright (Miriam Massaad) of Frederick, MD; and one niece, Melissa A. Butler Snowberger of Roaring Spring, PA.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years in 2005; twin daughters, Janet and Joyce; a son, James Raymond; and siblings Mona, Harriet M. (Bowers), Raymond B., H. Lyle, and Neil H.

He was a 1957 graduate of Morrison Cove High School. His career spanned over 40 years in retail sales and office management. Larry was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ in Roaring Spring, where he served in many leadership roles and sang in the choir. Larry enjoyed his many years of volunteering with his daughters’ activities growing up, especially when both were involved with band and chorus. He also cherished family time around the table and Canasta card game nights. After retirement, he took pleasure in helping with many things, including driving his grandchildren to practices and various after-school activities.

At his request, there will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be scheduled at a future date convenient for the family at The Spring Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to a local student marching band or chorus program to celebrate the important role music has always played for his family, or to AseraCare Hospice, Waterford, PA.
