Joyce Johnson

Joyce M. (Ellis) Johnson, 80 of Erie, Pa transitioned on March 31, 2025. She was born in Hope, AR on September 27, 1944, daughter of the late William and Johnnie T. (Holsten) Ellis.

Joyce was a former member of Second Baptist Church, she enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards and bingo. She loved to cook, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Vanessa Johnson, Shannon Johnson, McKinley Johnson (Jamie) and Omar Arrington, her siblings, Margaree Shaw and William Ellis (Ruby), all of Erie, Pa. In addition, she is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Johnson, her children, Jimmie Johnson, Sr., and Marvin Arrington, II, her siblings, Neal, Pete and Robert Ellis, Martha Barnes and Pearl Ellis Hobson and one granddaughter, LaChontelle Johnson.

Relatives and friends may call at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 East 21st Street, Erie, Pa 16503 on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of her service at 12:00 pm with Rev. Darrold Hobson, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, Pa 16503.
