Joseph James Torok, the original ("TURK") age 73, of Erie, passed away peacefully November 10, 2021, at PA Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home of Erie. Born March 31, 1948, in Erie, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Rose (Fratus) Torok and loving husband of Rita (Ratkowski) Torok.
He worked for Erie Forge and Steel and retired from GE Transportation. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and the Siebenbuerger Club. He was also a founding member of the original "Bayrats" crew. He served Honorably in the US Navy aboard the USS Independence CVA-62 during the Vietnam War. Joseph enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren - all of whom he proudly adored.
In addition to his beloved wife, and best friend of over 50 years, survivors include daughters, Amy Lynn Torok-Davis (Colonel Danny E. Davis), of Washington D.C., and Julie Marie Torok, of Erie, his private Nurse who cared for him in the comfort of his own home for several years; a son, Dr. Mark Alan Torok (Dr. Martha Torok) of Wakefield, RI; grandchildren, Daniella, Presley, Olivia, LJ “Bubbs”, and Josie; a brother, Michael Torok (Cathy) of Spartansburg; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Snyder, and a brother, Steve Torok.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the MICU at UPMC Hamot and AseraCare Hospice.
At Joseph’s request, services will be held at the convenience of the family.
