John Morgan

John F. Morgan, 79, of Erie, Pa transitioned on April 19, 2025 after a brief illness at Twinbrook Medical Center.

John was born in Laurel, MS on July 3, 1945, son of the late John Boot Morgan and Alice Ruth Ross Morgan. He was a resident of Erie for 69 years. He attended Academy High School and was a laborer at Erie Steel Products for many years.

He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed watching Westerns. He also enjoyed playing the lottery.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommie Lee Morgan and a sister, Sallie Morgan.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Evans) Morgan, three sons, John Buffy Morgan, John Dixon Morgan and Michael Bryant all of Erie. Two daughters, Joyce Dixon of Erie and Shannon Visalle of Houston, TX. Two sisters, Stella Morgan and Lucy Morgan of Erie, one brother, Donnie Morgan of San Antonio, TX. Four grandchildren, Ashley Heidelberg of Ogden, Kansas, Jaiden and Jonavon Dixon of Erie and Britney Visalle of Houston, TX. Six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 East 21st Street, Erie, Pa 16503 on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 pm with Minister Susan P. Evans officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, Pa 16503.
