James Earl Brown, 78, of Erie, Pa, transitioned on May 23, 2026, at home. He was born in Yazoo City, MS on November 19, 1947, son of the late Albert and Rosie (Manning) Brown.
James worked in the warehouse at Welch’s, where he was employed for 25 years. Many knew him as “Coon Dog.”
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Viola L. Fountain of Anguilla, MS, three sons, Tony Riley of Rowlett, Tx, Eledrick Buckley of Fort Worth, Tx, Tarbayar Dorsey of Midnight, MS, four sisters, Jossie Powell of Bellwood, IL, Alma Cummings of Chicago, IL, Bessie Bryant of Oak Park, IL, Shelly Gilbert of Louise, MS, four brothers, Albert Brown of Erie, PA, Charlie Brown of Chicago, IL, Ricky Brown of Maywood, IL and Raymond Brown of Maywood, IL.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Quinn and Carl Quinn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 east 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm.
