Ines Dixon

Ines (Knight Smith) Dixon, 91 of Erie, transitioned into the loving arms of her savior on April 26, 2023, at LECOM Senior Living Center. Ines was born in Soso, Mississippi, on May 12, 1931, daughter of the late Tim and Myrtle Knight. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherman Dixon; two daughters, Evelyn Myers and Michele Smith; four sisters, Velma Moffett, Ida Hicks, Gettie Wheeler, Iola Stalworth and Georgia Ann Hunter; two brother Lenard and Major Knight; and great grandson Naim Bayete. 

Ines loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending church, cooking gardening, and singing.

She has left to cherish her memory, her eight children, Dr. Clifton Smith (Lisa) of Austin, Tx, Dewitt, Sharon and Kimley Smith of Erie Pa, Roland Smith of Hephzibath, Ga, Glenda Coleman (Craig) of Bartlett, Tn, Michael Smith (Laverne) of Lexington, Ky and Timothy Smith (Jennifer) of Cleveland, Oh; one brother, McLoyd Knight (Barbara) of Compton, Ca; sister in law, Minister Betty Dixon of Erie, Pa; and a Goddaughter, Sabrina Stevenson-Temple of Richmond, Va. Additionally, she has 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends may call, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Morning Star Baptist Church, 327 East 23rd Street, Erie, Pa 16503 from 12:00 noon until the time of the Homegoing Service at 1:00 pm with the Pastor Duane Hunter officiating.
