Hilton Louise Brown, age 90, of Erie, Pa, transitioned peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at UPMC Hamot. Born in Laurel, MS on April 3, 1935, she was the beloved daughter of the late Woodrow Dale and Ruth Lyons-Gore.
Hilton was educated at Oak Park School in Laurel, MS. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Laurel and later, Mt. Pleasant Church of Erie, Pa. Hilton work at GTE Telephone Company and was known for her love of dancing, singing, cooking, coloring, planting flowers, shopping, watching her favorite soap operas and cooking shows. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and Super Soul Saturday on WERG radio station. She loved spending time with her children and her family. Hilton loved the color purple, in her words “purple is the color of royalty”. Everyone who has come in contact with her loved her dearly, even her extended family and caretakers. She was sassy, outspoken but loving.
Hilton was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Brown Sr, sons Joseph Keys Sr and Robert Brown; her daughter Gwendolyn Brown and a special cousin Samuel Lyons (Alice). She is survived by six children, Suzie Brown, Alfred Brown Jr, Allen Brown, Timothy Brown Sr, Gregory Brown and Diane Brown. Many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren.
