Henry Ford Wimbush, affectionately known as "June" to family and friends went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2024.
Henry was born on March 12, 1967, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Clara Mae Olgetree Wimbush and Henry Ford Parran Jr.
Henry attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Westinghouse High School. He later went on to earn his Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management from the Pennsylvania Business Institute.
As a young man, Henry experienced challenges. However, through those challenges, he surrendered his life to God and uncovered his God-given talents - encouraging others and sharing the gospel. Henry moved to Harrisburg, PA where he joined Shiloh Church and delivered his first sermon marking the beginning of his journey as a man of God. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he touched many lives with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the power of redemption. Henry also joined Victory Christian Center Cathedral under Bishop Dwane Brock as he displayed his true faith as a man of God. Henry's continued quest to seek God's word led him to meet the love of his love and future wife, Velma Brenda McGraw Wimbush. Henry and Brenda build an unbreakable, deep bond rooted in love and faith in God.
A visionary entrepreneur, Henry became a Certified Recovery Support Specialist and founded Recovery Institute, a nonprofit to provide support for people with addictions and the organizations helping them. He also became the proud owner of Born-Again Barber Academy. His dedication to his community and passion for helping others made him a beloved figure in Harrisburg and beyond. Henry was a community champion and a devoted activist, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him.
Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife Brenda Velma Wimbush and his three brothers: Jibril Abdul Hafith (Diane Porter), Wiliam Wimbush, and Earl Wimbush. He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters and one brother: Lillian Wimbush Smith (Edward Smith), Donald Wimbush (Gruden Wimbush), Yulon Wimbush, and Laverna Wimbush, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved and often shared life advice.
Henry Wimbush will be remembered as a loving husband, a dedicated community leader, and a man of profound faith. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Although he will be greatly missed, he has gone home to be with the Lord and he is peacefully resting.
