Harvey Charles Olson passed away on December 16, 2023, at the Erie VA Medical Center.
He was born August 14, 1933, in Superior, Wisconsin and was the son of the late Melbourne Olson, and Sadie Malinowski-Anderson.
Harvey joined the military and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After serving in the military, he spent several years at Toledo Scales before venturing into his own business, Olson’s Commercial Repair Services, which he ran for over two decades.
Harvey had a lifelong passion for hockey and served as an assistant trainer for the Erie Golden Blades for the 1985-1986 season. Unfortunately, he had to step away from his involvement in hockey, as well as his business, after experiencing a stroke at the age of 59, but that didn’t hinder him from living a fulfilling life.
Harvey relished his independence as he navigated through town on his motorized scooter. He frequented Waldameer Park and Presque Isle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Melbourne “Nick” Olson, and stepfather Robert Anderson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Mikotowicz-Olson of 42 years, three children: Denise Baumann (Al), Dennis Olson, and Scott Olson and bonus children: Allen Holcomb (Kristin) and Christopher Holcomb (Jess), grandchildren: Roxanne Pamula, Brittney Fuhrman (Stephen), Joe Holcomb, Sarah Holcomb, and Laura Holcomb, and several great-grandchildren.
A private burial is being held at Calvary Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veteran Affairs Community Living Center. Davis – Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. 459 East 12th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16503 has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to Davisgarrfuneralhome.com.
