Frank Joseph Wienczkowski, Jr., 90, of Erie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 2, 2023, at UPMC-Hamot. He was born in Erie, Pa on June 5, 1933, son of the late Frank and Rose Szymanowski Wienczkowski.
"Papa" was the Patriarch of the family always being there for all of us. He introduced his children and their families to the enjoyment of camping at Cook Forest State Park, never missing a year to tent, cabin or just even visit for a day. There wasn't a project in the family where he wasn't involved. He attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and Graduated from Tech Memorial High School. He served in The United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving overseas to fight for his country. He retired from G.E. after 35 plus years as a Core Builder. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church contributing to many church projects. He was a sports booster for the school, supporting their soccer and basketball programs. He was a member of The National Polish Falcons of America Nest 123 where he enjoyed bowling in leagues and golfing in many tournemants, even winning in his senior division. He was a Gold Legion of Honor recipient from the Polish Falcons and was also awarded the Fraternalist of the year as well as holding positions of director and vice-president. He had most of his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren involved in many of the Polish activities. He was very proud of his Polish background. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Frank is survived by his wife of 69 years, Agnes T. Buczkowski Wienczkowski to whom he married on September 14, 1953, his daughters, Rebecca Sienkiewicz, Susan (Anthony) Mazzone, Janice (Todd) Barcley and Marcia Popovich, his grandchildren, Danielle (Aaron) Badjay, Anastasia (Derek) Sauers, Rachel Prindle, Colin and Josie Barcley and Michael Popovich, great grandchildren, Aiden and Lily Sauers, Owen Stearns, Jackson Prindle, Alastor and Atticus Badjay, and a brother, Robert Wienczkowski, Sr..
