In Loving Memory of Floyd Gregory Sr who sadly passed away from this world on December 14, 2024, due to an untimely illness. Floyd was born on February 2, 1958, in Erie, Pa to the late Robert C. Gregory Sr and Mattie Ethel (Help) Jordan Gregory.
Floyd attended Academy High School, he was very fit and athletic, ran track and field and graduated receiving his diploma. Shortly there after he enlisted into the United States Navy in the late 70s. While in the Navy, Floyd had took a interest in boxing where he trained along side of his teammate Floyd Mayweather Sr. They became fond friends and he had even brought him home to Erie to meet his family.
Although he didn't pursue the boxing career once he was discharged from the Navy he came back home and became a hard working family man. Floyd was a very humble man and gentle giant, who would have given anyone the shirt off his back to lend a helping hand in need, never a stranger to anyone always had a endearing smile on his face everytime you encountered his presence he was a jokester and use to always like scaring us unexpectedly, tickled us until we cried and pinched us on our cheeks. He was considered one of the favorite uncles and watched a many of his nefews and nieces grow up. Floyd was known to hold down two or more jobs at one time just so he could provide for his family. He loved his sons dearly and spoiled them unconditionally. Although he had a plethra of jobs, just to name a few Pennbriar Athlectic Club, Arconectics, YMCA, G.E. and Polymer Molding was his last job for fifteen years before he took sick. He was also known to be a handy man and liked to work on vehicle's. He loved cars and had plenty of them all different types and styles, but loved his Mercedes Benz.
In Addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by two brothers Alonzo (Jr) Gregory, Hoarce Earl Gregory. Two sisters Geraldine Gregory Pulliam and Maryann Gregory Thomas. One niece Barbara Jean Pulliam Darby, One Nephew Lonnie Jones Jr. Five Great- Nephews and Two Great-great nephews.
Floyd leaves his memory to cherish, his Lifetime Companion of 44 years Deborah " Debbie" Carr. Three sons Tony Car, Floyd Gregory Jr and Cordell Gregory. Eight grandchildren. One Aunt Freddie Mae Jordan-Martin, one Sister Grace Gregory Gray and Three Brothers Freddie Lee Gregory Sr, Robert C Gregory Jr and Benjamin Gregory. A Special Nephew Shonn (Pie) Jordan and Niece Chro Parker who always made sure to keep him groomed up. A Host of nieces, nephews, and four generations of nieces and nephews, cousins extended family and friends. A Special thanks to all the family who supported us during this difficult time and his niece Juanita Gregory.
Relatives and Friends are invited to the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church 155 East 21st Street, Erie, Pennsyvania 16503 on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM for a Celebration of Life.
