Evelyn Louise Knight Myers was born on June 18,1950 to Ines Knight Dixon and the late RRell Knight in Soso, Mississippi. After a hard-fought battle of various medical conditions, she was called home at the age of 71 to be with Her Lord and Savior on Thursday December 30, 2021. She was relocated to Erie Pa at the age of 18 months, where she was raised by (her aunt and uncle) Iola Stallworth and Louis B Stalworth. Iola and Evelyn shared a residence until Evelyn took ill.
She graduated from Strong Vincent High school and had a lengthy career with Union Bank and Mellon bank. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Shiloh Baptist church head start program. Evelyn sang with the Mighty Stars of Faith for several years. She began her walk in Christ as a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a member of the gospel chorus choir for many years. She later served at the House of Prayer where she was also a member of the choir and many other boards.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Aze Moffitt, sister Michelle Smith, (Aunt) Iola Stalworth (whom she affectionately called Mom)
She leaves to mourn her birth mother Ines Dixon, daughter, Dellrea (Charles) Ellis Romeoville, IL, son, Earl Wilson, bonus daughter, Shakayla Harkless; Brothers, Earl Shelby Laurel, MS Clifton (Lisa) Smith TX, Dewitt Smith, Roland Smith Augusta, Ga, Michael Smith Lexington, KY, Timothy (Jen)Smith, Daniel(Charlene)Moffett; Sisters, Sharon Smith, Kimley Smith, Glenda (Craig) Coleman, Memphis, TN and Fernetta Gresham, San Diego, CA; Aunt-Tinia Mae Knight Gavin; Uncles, McLloyd (Barbara) Knight Compton, CA, Joe Hal Knight, Detroit, MI, niece, whom she raised, Nicole Smith and best friend Sharron Curlett.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 10 AM until the hour of Service at 12 Noon with Pastor Daryl Craig, Sr., officiating at the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st Street, Erie PA 16503.
The family graciously declines flowers.
Masks must be worn if you plan to attend the service. No Exceptions.
Burial will follow in Erie Cemetery.
