Edwin A. Hodges Jr., 81, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at his home with his loving wife of 36 years by his side. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1941, the son of the late Edwin Hodges and Rosemary (Schweitzer) Hodges.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his 2 daughters: Kelly Hodges and Jackie Giles, a grandson: Austin Charles Donaldson, a great grandson Revan Dregalla, and 2 sisters: Patricia Rogers and Roszane Hodges.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jacqueline A. (Knitter) Hodges, seven children: Colleen (Dennis) Abata, MaryEllen (Tom) Hopkins, Edwin Hodges Ill, David (Jennifer) Hodges, Scott Hodges, Jennifer (Casey) Donaldson, and Thomas Hodges, fifteen grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren with one due in March.
Ed served in the United States Navy. He was a City of Erie firefighter. He worked for Prudential Insurance before finding his lifelong career with State Farm Insurance. After retiring in 2009, Ed and his wife took up the art of pottery. They traveled the country and had a wonderful time showing and selling their pottery at shows. They even received occasional recognition for their fine pottery.
Their family would like to express their gratitude to the Visiting Nurses who aided in Ed's care. The family would also like to thank Davis-Garr Funeral for lightening the load with the final arrangements. At Ed's request there will be no service. Services are being arranged by Davis- Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc.
