On February 4, 1958, Douglas Preston Branson was bom in Erie, PA to James C. and Alice F. Branson. Douglas passed peacefully on October 15, 2025. After a long battle with several health issues, Douglas knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior and made the conscious decision rather than suffer with the ill effects of dialysis, that he was "ready to be with God and his loved ones."
Douglas graduated from Erie's Public Schools and attended Gannon University. He worked in construction as a block & brick layer and laborer, He enjoyed watching football, basketball and In the Heat of the Night. His guilty pleasure was chasing that dollar (aka gambling). One of his favorite meals was neckbones & rice, and he loved to dress and wear his hats and caps. But most of all, he loved his family.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Frank and Rebecca Branson, his maternal grandparents Ella Coleman and Edward Foster, 3 sons, Depree Sanders, Johnathan Keaton and DeShawn Allen, Sr., 1 grandson, Marvin Sanders, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are 4 sons, Marvin Sanders (Erie, PA) Douglas, Malcolm and Dion Keaton (Atl., GA), his only daughter, Alicia Keaton (Atl., GA), 2 sisters, Deborah Branson (Cleveland, OH) and Darcey Branson (Erie, PA) 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a devoted fiancé, Evelyn Dozier and a bonus grandson, Chance Jones, 1 niece, Aziza Branson (Atl., GA), 2 nephews, Omari Branson (Atl., GA) and Bomani Branson (Erie, PA), 5 great nieces, 1 great nephew and a host of cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Victory Christian Center Cathedral 1129 Pennsylvania Ave. Erie, Pennsylvania 16503 on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of his Homegoing Celebration beginning at 1:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Davis - Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. Online condolences may be sent to Davisgarrfuneralhome.com.
