Donald Kinecki Obituary

Donald M. Kinecki, 86, of Erie, passed away May 29, 2022, at Nightingale Nursing and Rehab Center. Born April 7, 1936, in Erie, he was the son of the late Michael and Dorothy (Przybyszewski) Kinecki and the beloved husband of Geraldine (Wnukoski) Kinecki whom he was married to for 61 years.

Donald retired from Johnson Controls as a tool maker where he worked for over 44 years. He served two years in the US Marine Corps. His biggest joy in life was spending time with family, especially supporting the activities of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his time gardening and following Pittsburgh sports teams. He was a member of St. Stan’s Ushers Club, Holy Trinity Club, Siebenbuerger Club, and a life-long member of Polish Foresters. Most proudly, he was a member of the Original 13 with his closest friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include daughters, Debi (Brian) Peelman of Twinsburg, OH, Lori (Marty) Dolecki of Erie and Bobbi (Tim) Parkhurst of North East; a son, David, (Paula) Kinecki of Erie; grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren (Kevin), Rachel (Shane), Michael, Ryan and Jessica, Hallie (Dan), Allison, Emily, Stan; 10 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Daniel Tomczak and David Grandalski; sisters-in-law, Jackie Rzomp, Kathy Grandalski, and Kim Wnukoski; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear sister Geraldine Tomczak, his niece, Kathleen DeRooy, and brothers-in-law, John Rzomp and John Wnukoski.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc, 459 E. 12th Street Erie PA 16503. A Prayer Service will be held at 10:15 AM on Monday June 6, 2022, at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church 2701 East Avenue, Erie PA 16504, at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Home of Erie and Nightingale Nursing and Rehab Center for years of personal care. The family would like to extend a very special heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and compassion provided by Diana, Christina, Susan, Shu-Shu, Liz, Char and several others.
