Deacon Billy Lyons Obituary

Deacon Billy R. Lyons, 83, of Erie, Pa transitioned on May 6, 2024, at Pleasant Ridge Manor. He was born in Laurel, MS on June 27, 1940, son of the late Ora D. and Lillie (McCoy) Lyons. 

Billy Ray was an avid reader and gardener. He worked as a machinist for Hammermill Paper Co., he proudly served as a Deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church where he was a was a choir member and reader. He was a former Deacon at Prayer Tower C.O.G.I.C. Bishop Warren C. Doris, Jr., Pastor in Joliet, IL. He also served on his Neighborhood Watch Committee and volunteered at the Food Bank. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Lyons, his children, Charmaine Lyons, Marshawn Lyons (Tracey), Andre R. Lyons (Rhonda S.) and one sister, Grace Lyons-Horton, all of Erie. In addition, he is also survived by 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jetson Lyons, Olre Lyons, Robert Lyons (Emma), Lloyd Lyons, George Lyons, Carolyn Smith "Pumpkin", Miss Johnnie Mae Faulkerson-Atkins and Essie Lyons.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 17, 2024, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 East 5th Street, Erie, Pa 16507 from 10:00 am until the time of his Homegoing Service at 11:00 am with Elder Andre Lyons, Eulogist. Burial will be private.
