Cynthia Gutowski

Cynthia Jean (Szewczyk) Gutowski, 72, of Erie, passed away May 1, 2022. Born June 29, 1949, in Erie, she was the daughter and only child of the late Eleanor Szewczyk and the wife of the late John Joseph Gutowski.

Cindy, as she liked to be called, was a graduate of Academy High School. She was a loving grandmother to her granddaughter, Aylin Kacar.

Cindy was a hard worker who cleaned various doctor’s offices, a job some people look down upon. She did not finish her shift until those rooms were spotless. Cindy was a good wife who took care of her husband who had severe health issues. She was an excellent cook and baker. Cindy was often asked to make her special dishes for family events. She loved to crochet and was especially good at crossword puzzles.

Cindy is survived by her daughter, Deanna (Gutowski) Kacar, son-in-law, Ibrahim Kacar and granddaughter, Aylin Kacar all of Erie; aunts, Martha Connelly and Rita Slatzer and several cousins.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven Gutowski, maternal grandparents, George and Catherine (Wasielewski) Szewczyk and their children, Margaret Szewczyk, Joanne (Szewczyk) Torres, Carol (Szewczyk) Todd, Leonard Szewczyk , Carl Szewczyk, and Edward Szewczyk.
