Cynthia L. (Bender) Cherry, 75, of Erie, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Erie, Pa on December 26, 1947, daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes (Kozlowski) Bender. In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Cherry, a brother, Bobby Bender, a sister, Carol Murzynski, two sons-in-law, Rodney Stafford and Michael Todd.
Cynthia served in the United States Navy where she was honorably discharged. She worked for Wal Mart in the sewing and fabrics department. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, going to garage sales, playing bingo and camping.
Cynthia is survived by her four children, Catherine Rose (David VanDyke) of Erie, Teresa Todd of Erie, Brenda Handley of Union City, William Diemer of Erie, her four grandchildren, David Rose, Crystal Rose, Steven Rose, Cassandra Kennedy and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Ray Bender of Arkansas, Pam Staaf of Texas, James Bender of Florida, her stepchildren, several nieces and nephews, her sisters-in-law, Johann Fucci and Martha Lowes, brother-in-law, Gary Glosser and her partner in crime, Kristina Crotty.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 8:00 pm. Burial will be private. Condolences may be sent to davisgarrfuneralhome.com.
