Cheryl Hannon

Cheryl Ann (Laing) Hannon, age 64, of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, due to complications from cancer.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 17, 1961, the daughter of the late Mark G. Schoenstein and Fern L. (Meyers) Schoenstein Floyd (Charles C. Floyd, stepfather).

“Cheri,” as she was known to almost all, grew up in Chicago, and then moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania, before heading out west to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spent many years working in hospitality services in the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”  She returned to Pennsylvania in 2011.

Her time in Las Vegas provided Cheri with a sense of impeccable style and service, and she was always dressed for the occasion and knew how a table should be set and the guests served.  She enjoyed tending to her summer flower garden overlooking Lake Erie, as well as boating and fishing and Christmas-time in Key West, Florida, with her long-time, loving companion, James J. (“Jim”) Michael, of Erie, Pennsylvania.

In addition to Mr. Michael, Cheri is survived by her three children, Kimberly Sledgister of Chicago, Courtney Ban of Franklin, and Michael Laing of Las Vegas.
