The Lord has gathered another Rose for his garden! On October 6, 2023, Carolyn Louise Mikel Johnson was that Rose.
Carolyn was born April 13, 1950, to Mrs. Willie Mae Mikel Milsap in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was the oldest of 12 children, having six brothers and five sisters. She was like a second mom to the youngest of them. She often cooked, cleaned, helped with school work, and took good care of her younger siblings.
She attended Grace Love Elementary School and later Rowan High School where she graduated with two of her best friends, Ms. Nette Williams and Ms. Shirley Sloan.
After graduation, Carolyn left Mississippi to live with her Aunt Jessie Mae Mikel Cooley (deceased) and her children in Erie, Pennsylvania. Carolyn met, married and divorced Mr. Henry Johnson, Jr. There were no children to this union.
Carolyn was a “mind my own business” person. She kept to herself in that order!! She will be truly missed by too many family and friends to name them.
She leaves to cherish her memories…a loving aunt, Mrs. Carrie Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana; a longtime friend, Mr. Paul Carr; sisters, Doris Mikel Jones of Gulfport, Mississippi, Lillie Milsap Dooley of Ft. Washington, Maryland, Shelia Milsap Hixon (Otis) Waggaman, Louisianna, and Louise Milsap Magee (Reggie) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; brothers, Jerry Milsap (Carolyn) of Collins, Mississippi, Terry Milsap (Jackie) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Larry Milsap (Carolyn) of Biloxi, Mississippi, Perry Milsap (Rocquel) of Havey Louisianna, and Jason Milsap (Genora) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; a host of many more family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Willie Mae Mikel Milsap; her daddy, Mr. Leroy Milsap; a sister, Marilyn Faye Milsap Payne; a brother, Walter “Shane” Milsap, all of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and a host of other family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 E. 12th Street, Erie PA 16503, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 10 AM until the hour of her Service at 12 Noon.
Burial will be private.
