Carol Harris

Carol (McCullum) Harris, 60, of Erie, passed away on February 7, 2026, at her residence. She was born on September 15, 1965, to L.R. McCallum and the late Nora (McNear) McCullum in Erie.

Carol was a graduate of Academy High School and Gannon University. From an early age, she had a strong love of reading.

Carol loved helping and caring for people and eventually made a career of it. She served as a caseworker and supervisor at the Erie County Assistance Office Department of Public Welfare for 20 years.

Carol had a striking and gentle love for her family members that carried throughout her life. Though she had no biological children, she was a loving mother figure to every child she came in contact with.

Carol is survived by her father, LR McCullum; siblings, Lula McCullum, Darrell McCullum (Sheila), Christopher McCullum, Cheryl Beard, Douglas Beard, and Bernice Hardin; nephews and nieces, Timothy Butler (Vanessa), Erika Kidd (Chuck), Darrell McCullum, Jr. (Keveka), Dominique McCullum, Shamelia Jones (Luther), Zion McCullum, Cameron McCullum, Zy’Shawn DeBoe, Christopher McCullum, Jr, and Myei Jennings; grandnieces and grandnephews; aunts; best friend, Sandra Jones; and countless cousins and distant relatives.  

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nora McCullum; sister, Donna Beard Craig; sister-in-law, Helen McCullum; grandnieces, Aria Butler and Kai Ann McCullum; grandnephew, Messiah McCullum; and former husband, Destry Harris.

Relatives and friends are invited to Second Baptist Church, 757 East 26th Street, Erie, Pa 16504 on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of her Homegoing Celebration beginning at 12:00 PM.
