Berdina Jaskiewicz Obituary

With a sad, but grateful heart, we announce the passing of our mother, Berdina Romba Jaskiewicz to her heavenly reward on July 7, 2026. Mom was born on a rural farm in McKean Pa. to the late Julia Anne and Frank Romba. She would be the third youngest of 11 children. Mom learned the meaning of hard work at a young age, which would carry her through the rest of her life. Farm life was work, except on Saturday nights, and in her young adult life, the Valley Inn was the place to be, dancing to the music of the Hytones. This is where she would meet her Valentine. Yep, she would begin dating one of the boys in the band. They were married October 17, 1953, at St. Francis Church in McKean and soon started saving to buy a home of their own; but instead purchased the Jaskiewicz homestead next to the Moniuszko Club, where she would reside for the next 67 years. Dad, with his carpentry skills, would slowly turn the house into a home, where all would feel welcomed. Friends would offer to lend a hand, but he would often say, "no thanks I have Dina, and she can out- work most men." Besides raising 5 children, she also cared for her father and father-in-law in their later years. Mom later put to use her culinary skills by helping her catering friend, Gert Wisinski on weekends at weddings or Sunday dinners at the Uhtman Chor Club. Mom would eventually take those skills to St. Stanislaus Parish where she would cook cafeteria lunches for the school children and later prepared countless Parish Day dinners, bake sales, and many Lenten Fish and Pierogi dinners along with the ladies of the parish. Mom would eventually and grudgingly let go of those reins in her mid 80's, with a little Romba temper tied in. Our late sister-in-law Diane would pay her the ultimate compliment saying that she had more energy than the energizer bunny. Love you Mom

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Valentine, in 2007, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Diane, in 2025, and brothers Joseph, Steven, Theodore, Leo, Raymond, Stanley, Frank and Zigmond Romba, and sisters Mary Cyparski, and Jennie Romba.

She is survived by her 5 sons, Valentine (Carrie), Gary (Patty), Dennis, Donald (Paula), and Edwin, as well as 11 grandchildren, Lindsey, Jacob, Jordan, Matthew, Jennifer, Daniel, Hannah, Ellen, Kayla, Tyler, and Nicholas. and 17 great-grandchildren.

We are so grateful for the care, kindness, compassion and grace of the Barnabas Court North staff at Brevillier Village, where our Mom resided for the last year. Thank You with all your hearts!
