Age 83, of 1158 East 20th Street, Erie, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 18, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Erie, Barbara’s life was deeply woven into the fabric of her family, friends, and the community. Barbara Jean had a passion for dressing well. Whether it was clothes, shoes, or furniture, she always knew how to find the best of everything. She was lovingly called the “Queen of Fashion” Barbara also loved to dance and cherished spending time with her family and close friends.
Barbara worked at Plastek Machinery as a machine operator for over a decade before retiring. She was the daughter of the late Annie B. Watford-Maxwell and Johnny Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Shawn Parker and Bruce Parker Jr.; one daughter, Tammie Parker Porter; two brothers, Johnny Freddie Maxwell and Robert Maxwell; and two sisters, Sallie Ann Wardell Woodard and Marsha Thurston.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Brian Parker of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Shawnté’ Raines of Erie; a grandson whom she raised from infancy, Bruce Brady; One only living sister, Cynthia Maxwell Nixon, and six other grandchildren, Crystal Porter, Allie Porter IV (Tia) Brandon Parker (Katia), Ashley Parker, Dana Parker, and Aaron Parker; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and her closest families, Special niece Relisha Maxwell, the Price family and the Williams family. She also leaves her special dear friend, Vincent Gore.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center (Dr. Seastone) for their kindness during Barbara’s illness, as well as the staff on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Intensive Care Unit at UPMC Hamot. Special thanks also go to Darnella Durr, Frank Crockett Jr. (nephew), Eric Maxwell (nephew), and Sheila Price for their care, dedication, and selfless acts in making sure Barbara was well taken care of, accompanying her to appointments, shopping, and helping in any way she needed. Barbara will truly be missed.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM at Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 E. 12th Street, Erie, PA. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery immediately following the service.
