Avonell “Abby” Schwindt, 95, of Erie and Edinboro passed away Friday April 15, 2022. She was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on October 7, 1926, a daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Allio.
Abby will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit , hospitality and her love of decorating. She and Arthur (“Deco”), her husband of 65 years were well known for opening their home for friends to gather. While they had 4 children, there are many that viewed them as parents and grandparents.
In 1953 Abby first met Jehovah’s Witnesses and learned that God’s name is Jehovah and that his name means he will always accomplish his purpose. That purpose includes that one day soon he will end all suffering and bring paradise conditions to the earth through the Kingdom of his son Jesus. Shortly thereafter she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent the rest of her life sharing that good news with anyone she met. Even toward the end of her life she was encouraging people to visit www.jw.org to find answers to their Bible questions and learn about that Kingdom and our wonderful future. She firmly believed that there would be a resurrection to life in that paradise earth.
In addition to her parents and siblings she was preceded in death by her husband Deco and one son, Douglas G Schwindt.
She is survived by two sons, Michael G Schwindt and his wife Diane and Jeffery A Schwindt and his wife JoAnn; one daughter Lisa Arneman and her husband Brian; daughter-in-law Nancy Schwindt; eight grandchildren, David, Shannon, Heather, Gretchen, Jeffrey, Adam, Anthony, and Samantha; seven great-grandchildren, Makayla, Isabella, Sabith, Kyle, Cody, Karly and Milayna.
A Memorial Service will be held via zoom on May 6, 2022 at 7:00 PM. For information you may contact the family.
