Mrs. Annie Mae Rose Young was born to the late Mr. Willie (Ike) Rose and Mrs. Bettie Chatmon Rose on September 17, 1931, in Cleveland, Mississippi. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Tommie Young on December 28, 1954, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, who preceded her in death. They moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in April 1957.
She worked many years at Strong Vincent High School until she retired. She was a wonderful homemaker and wife. She had great taste in style and interior design. As well as, having a great green thumb. She was an avid reader and loved to debate. She loved her coffee.
Mother Young accepted Christ early in her life. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the auspices of the late Reverend Perry Keys.
She was a devoted Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She transferred her membership to Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church until her death.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Natalia Hutton, Marie Hicks, Molly Bradley, Savannah Carlize, Lilly Rose, Betty Lou Bryant, and Beatrice Flakes and five brothers Henry, Willie, John Lee, Robert and Leroy Rose.
She is survived by her sister, Mother Luella Carr and a host of nieces and nephews. As we as, a sister-in-law, Lucy Young of Shaw, Mississippi.
Relatives and friends are invited to Greater Calvary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2624 German Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16504 on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to the time of her Homegoing Celebration beginning at 12:00 PM.
