Mr. Amos Lee Tate was born on August 9,1961 to the late James W. and Loveina Sanders Tate. Amos was a 1979 graduate of Tech Memorial High School where he excelled in their football and track and field programs. During his football career at Tech Amos set many city records which earned him the name "Famous Amos".
After graduating from high school, Amos attended Iowa Community College and later transferring to Oklahoma State. Amos was employed by various companies throughout the City of Erie until becoming disabled.
Amos confessed Christ early in his life. He showed love and compassion to his family and friends. Amos adored his nieces and nephews, he visited them often and always had something special to give them. Amos enjoyed spending his leisure time at the Casino.
Amos was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Loveina (Sanders)Tate, his only child Jordan Dwayne Poston, brother in law Warren Sinclair, nephews Micheal Robbins and Daiquile Henderson.
He leaves to cherish his life and memories brothers Albert and Andrew Tate of Atlanta, Georgia and Theodore "Pee Wee" (Linda) Smith of Erie, Pa. Sisters Denise Sinclair, Charisse (Tobin) Upshaw, Pastor Victoria Tate and Patricia Tate of Atlanta, Georgia, Debbie Tate of Columbus,Ohio, Betty (John) Davis, Deirdre (Maurice) Troop, Yvonne Tate and Godsister, Veronica Mayo of Erie, Pa.
Amos is further survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts cousins and friends.
Amos will truly be missed.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Victory Christian Center Cathedral, 1129 Pennsylvania Ave. Erie, Pa 16503 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by services on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the Bishop Dwane Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery. Services will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/EdwardJGarrFuneralHome/.
