John Szwarc of Erie, born in Dubno, Poland, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentyna and Stanislaw, his twin sisters Veronica and Irena, and his son Richard.
Having been born on May 15, 1922, John just recently celebrated his 99th birthday with his loving daughters. He worked in the Finishing Department at Hammermill from 1953 until his retirement in 1984. John had an innateness for home improvement and auto repair. He enjoyed playing pinochle, boating, fishing, and music, especially the Lawrence Welk Show. John was most happy on the dance floor dancing the waltz with his dance partner and special companion, Julia Thompson.
John is survived by his two daughters, Irene Cruz of Erie and Amelia Ferritto (John) of Erie, grandson Shannon, granddaughters Alisha and Alicia, three great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and his companion Julia Thompson.
The family would like to thank Presbyterian SeniorCare Network for their care of John over the past two years.
At the family’s request, there will be a private Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021. Family and friends may attend Mass virtually at https://www.facebook.com/Edward-J-Garr-Funeral-Home-Inc-100130284712299. Burial will be private at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
