Michael Nash Obituary

Michael J. Nash, 59, passed away on March 6th, 2024, Michael peacefully laid down his tools and secured fires one last time. Although we were not ready for him to leave us, he was ready for a well deserved rest.

Michael was born in Erie, Pa on August 2, 1964, to the late James L. Nash and Sandra K. Pastor. Michael was a graduate of Tech Memorial H.S. and excelled at King Cobra Karate under lifelong friend and mentor, John Barton. Upon graduation, Michael entered the Army in the unique occupation of "Watercraft Engineer".

He was stationed in Panama, where he fell in love and started his family. Michael finished his military career in Newport News, Va., a place where he felt "at home". In Virginia, Michael continued his education receiving several trade degrees and professional licenses. He retired from the local school district where he oversaw and maintained the central plant operations of the 20+ building school district. He also operated a small business "Mike Fix the Works" specializing in H.V.A.C. and concrete.

He loved to ride motorcycles and he rode as often as he could. He loved riding with his brothers and the Masonic Riders of Virginia, an organization to which he belonged. Michael worked hard his entire life and he played hard as well. He was "someone" to everyone. Mike, brother Mike, Yo man yo, Uncle Mike and his very own favorite "Mad Mike Murdoch". His most cherished moniker was "Dad" or father! He didn't want to be just his children's father, he wanted to be their best friend. He was very aware that he worked a lot but made a daily effort to always make time for his kids. He wanted his home to be filled with laughter and creative ideas. Seeing the smile on his family's faces made him happy and proud, no matter how gloomy a day may be. Michael loved his family and friends fiercely. Good, bad or indifferent, if he considered you family, he would do everything that he could do, to "have your back" and sometimes, he would do more than he could. Michael returned to Erie while his mother was ill and continued to stay after her passing.

Michael is survived by his children, Rafael Wood (Gwen) of Virginia, Aiden Nash (Georgia) of Meadville, and Jimmy Nash of Virigina (grandson Nixson Nash) and former wife Charlayne of Virginia. He is also survived by his brothers; William (Patricia) of Harborcreek, Donald of Erie, and Brian (Suezette) of Erie and his sister Angela (Jim) of Erie.

He is further survived by nieces and nephews; Bill (Leah), Jeremy, Heather, Jimmy, Kaylah (Isaac), Kyle, Jared, Shawn, Noah, Cole and Brian. Sisters-in-law; Sharon Nash and Tammi Casey. Michael is especially blessed and also continues to be survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and grand nephews and many lifelong friends. Michael especially didn't want anyone to cry at his funeral, so if any of you little ruffians, B. Boys and SpongeBob sissy pants are gonna cry, "suck it up, buttercup (hehe).
